Kampala Honors Yousif Siraj Al-Din’s Legacy in Sudanese Journalism

In an evening filled with both grief and gratitude, the Sudanese Journalists Association in the Kampala capital, Uganda. commemorated the journalist Yousif Siraj Al-Din during a memorial event held under the slogan: “The *Body is Gone… But the Legacy* *Remains* .” The gathering was attended by journalists, media professionals, friends, and colleagues of the late journalist.
Participants reflected on key moments from his professional and personal journey, emphasizing that Yousif Siraj Al-Din was more than just a journalist; he was one of the influential Sudanese voices. defending the profession and promoting the values of trade union work and ethical responsibility within Sudan’s media landscape.
Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Secretary of the Sudanese Journalists Association, stated that the late journalist played a significant role in laying the foundations of the union’s constitution and contributed actively to the development of both union and political work, in addition to his constant concern for humanitarian issues and journalists’ rights.
He added that Siraj Al-Din remained a model of professionalism and ethical commitment, noting that his impact would continue to live on in the memories of his colleagues and in the history of Sudanese journalism.
The memorial also featured speeches and personal testimonies from the late journalist’s colleagues and friends, alongside an emotional address by his brother, the writer Al-Jameel Al-Fadil. Speakers recalled his humanitarian values, his support for fellow journalists, and his strong defense of press freedom, remembering a man whose presence left a lasting mark on Sudan’s media community.
