Sudan Scrambles to Contain Cholera Surge as West Kordofan Records 77 Deaths

Federal Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, announced that the cumulative number of cholera cases in West Kordofan State had risen to 308 as of May 27, including 77 deaths.
The Minister stated that 99 patients had recovered, while 32 cases remain under medical care and are reported to be in stable condition.
During an emergency coordination meeting held yesterday with partners and humanitarian organizations, the Minister emphasized the importance of accurately identifying urgent needs and ensuring the timely delivery of medicines and medical supplies to affected areas.
He also called for intensified health and preventive interventions to curb the spread of the outbreak, particularly in affected and hard-to-reach locations, stressing the need for stronger coordination between government institutions and partners to ensure an effective response and contain the disease.
