The pain that has afflicted our country over past decades was not due to a lack of resources, but rather due to the “ *Kizan* ” the (brotherhood government) regime stabbing the heart of Sudanese society. They systematically worked to fragment the social fabric and planted the seeds of racism and tribalism in order to divide brothers from one another, forcing us to pay the price of this fragmentation in our stability and the future of our generations.
Today, we must realize that racism is the primary enemy and the main cause of Sudan’s destruction. Recovery begins when we open our hearts to one another and believe that our strength lies in our diversity, not in our division. There is no way for us to survive except by accepting one another, respecting our differences, and building a cohesive social fabric that is not torn apart by narrow interests.
Sudan is big enough for everyone, and through love and mutual respect we will rebuild what years of division have destroyed. Let us be one hand and one heart for the sake of a proud nation that rises above tribe and region, and embraces all its people in peace.
