As part of efforts to organize and coordinate the work of tea, food, and beverage vendors, the union’s general assembly elected one of the well-known tea vendors as its chairperson during a meeting held in Omdurman.
The committee overseeing the union elections stated in a press release that the general assembly witnessed broad participation from tea and food vendors, including representatives from seven Sudanese states, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of union work in this sector.
It is worth to be mentioned that this union is the first-ever of its kind in Sudan . It aims to represent women working in the tea and food sector, unify their voice, defend their rights, and contribute to organizing and developing the profession in a way that improves the working environment.
