An Iranian diplomatic delegation held unannounced meetings on Sunday with Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah AlBurhan in Port Sudan, in the presence of figures linked to the Islamic movement, according to sources familiar with the arrangements.

An Iranian diplomatic delegation held unannounced meetings on Sunday with Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah AlBurhan in Port Sudan, in the presence of figures linked to the Islamic movement, according to sources familiar with the arrangements.


The delegation arrived in two batches via Asian routes and held a closed-door meeting at a private headquarters, attended by Iranian chargé d’affaires Mohammad Hassan Kheiri along with political leaders including Ahmed Haroon.


Sources stated that the delegation delivered an official message from Tehran praising Sudan’s stance during the recent escalation involving the U.S.

 and Israeli strikes, as well as proposing the expansion of strategic cooperation with the Port Sudan authority, including the reactivation of previous military agreements.


The talks included a proposal to accelerate the establishment of an Iranian maritime facility in the( Osief) area of the Red Sea state, based  on understandings  between the foreign ministers and his counterpart in February 2025, aimed at strengthening Iran’s presence along the Red Sea coast.


The two sides also discussed joint security arrangements to secure regional shipping lanes, with plans to sign additional agreements in the coming period covering military and technical support.
