A drone strike targeted a local market in Umra Suraf, in North Darfur State, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries among innocent civilians, including women and children.
It is worth mentioning that Umra Suraf is considered one of the most prominent localities in North Darfur State and is located approximately 200 kilometers west of El Fasher, the state capital.
It is also classified as an important commercial and residential area, inhabited by 270,000 people from diverse social groups, which increases the severity of targeting it given its high population density.
Targeting markets, healthcare facilities, and residential areas reveals a pattern that threatens civilians’ lives and weakens what remains of social stability and security.
