WARNINGS OF A HUMANITARIAN DISASTER IN AL-AWSAT..AMID RISING MEASLES CASES AND SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL SERVICES

Sudanese voices Wed/April/22nd (Sudania news ) The Organization for the Advocacy of Darfur Victims ,and the Hope and Shelter Organization for Refugees have issued an urgent humanitarian appeal, warning of a concerning outbreak of measles in Tawila locality in North Darfur State during March and April 2026, amid deteriorating health conditions and a severe shortage of medical supplies. The two organizations stated that dozens of cases have been recorded in a short period, while health facilities are suffering from a major shortage of intravenous fluids and antibiotics, along with an almost complete lack of essential medicines required for treatment. The statement emphasized that children are the most vulnerable group, especially with the spread of malnutrition and weak health services, which increases the risk of serious complications that may threaten their lives. The organizations warned that the situation could turn into an imminent humanitarian catastrophe if urgent intervention is not made, calling on the Ministry of Health, humanitarian organizations, and international partners to act immediately to provide medicines and medical supplies, and to support health centers to save lives and contain the spread of the disease.
