The death of Sudanese citizen Mohamed Al-Mujtaba Ayman Elias inside Al-Talibiya Police Station in AlJiza has raised widespread questions about the circumstances of his detention and the reasons of his death.
According to a report received by the Sudanese Group for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms.and the Darfur Lawyers Association from the victim’s family, the young man was detained in late Ramadan and was later declared dead on Monday evening, . His body was transferred to the morgue of Om El-Masryeen Hospital in preparation for medical examination.
Calls have intensified for a transparent investigation to uncover the truth and ensure accountability, alongside criticism over what has been described as the Sudanese embassy in Cairo’s weak follow-up on the conditions of its detained citizens and its failure to take adequate measures to protect their rights and dignity.
