*The Sudanese Free Revolutionary Youth assembly Condemns the Detention of Humanitarian Aid Trucks in Al-Dabba and Warns of a Worsening Humanitarian Catastrophe

Sudanese voices Tue/May /19th [Media Secretariat] In yet another crime against humanity, the coup authorities have detained dozens of humanitarian aid convoys belonging to the World Food Programme in the *Al-Dabba* area of Northern State. These convoys were en route to the Darfur and Kordofan regions at a time when millions of Sudanese people are enduring catastrophic humanitarian conditions caused by war, worsening famine, rising poverty, and mass displacement. The use of food as a means of pressure or obstruction constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and all conventions and treaties that guarantee the protection of civilians and ensure the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need. Imposing restrictions that delay or hinder the movement of aid convoys directly threatens the lives of thousands of civilians who depend on this assistance along the country’s devastating crisis. The authorities have ignored repeated international and regional appeals calling for the protection of humanitarian corridors and the facilitation of aid delivery to war-affected populations. This reflects the continuation of collective punishment and the systematic starvation of innocent civilians. In light of this moral and humanitarian crime, the Sudanese Free Revolutionary Youth assembly calls upon the United Nations, international and regional humanitarian organizations, and human rights defenders worldwide to urgently intervene to secure the immediate release of the aid convoys and guarantee their safe arrival to those in need. We also demand an independent and transparent investigation to identify those responsible for these violations and hold them accountable. The assembly further reaffirms its commitment to monitoring all violations and abuses committed against civilians since the outbreak of war on April 15, warning against the continued targeting of civilians, infrastructure, markets, and schools, which has plunged communities into fear, terror, and widespread humanitarian collapse. Protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance is both a legal and moral responsibility that must never be compromised under any circumstances.
