The Secretary-General of the Civil Society Initiative, Ali Hajo, warned of the worsening humanitarian and security situation in the Blue Nile region, calling for urgent regional and international action to stop the war in Sudan and save thousands of civilians and displaced people.
This came during a meeting with Ambassador Laurent Karabandi, envoy of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to Sudan, where both sides discussed the growing displacement crisis affecting the cities of Damazin and Roseires, with more than 100,000 displaced people arriving from the areas of Kurmuk , Qeisan , and Bau .
The meeting stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire, the opening of safe humanitarian corridors, and the protection of civilians, while warning against the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region.
