Kassala Education Crisis Deepens as Teachers Begin Full Strike Next Sunday

Sudanese voices Mon/June/1st [Sudanese voices follow up] The Sudanese Teachers Committee in Kassala State has announced a full strike across all localities in the state, starting next Sunday. the committee said in a statement. the decision to go on strike comes in protest against the deteriorating living conditions of teachers and the denial of financial entitlements that have accumulated for years. It noted that the salary of the first grade of teacher levels does not exceed 156,000 pounds, stating that this amount is not even enough to cover daily transportation costs. The committee further stressed that teachers’ wages have fallen to the lowest levels compared to other public sector employees, despite their long years of service.
